Slicers can now display a different value than is passed as a parameter, by adding an additional column to the input view.
Slicers can also handle a slicer input view with non-unique values -- if the display value column has repeated values, then the value passed to the parameter will be collapsed into a single column-separated parameter.
The following example is from the new pre-built report application for CMDB Data Quality. The first column is what the user will see in the slicer; the second column is the value that will be passed into the parameter. Because there are multiple values for "Business Services and Application," selecting that value will pass all of the classes that match the category as a comma separated list:
